Fine blades, Gents and thanks for posting. Gives someone on the downside of the mountain joy. S & M quality opened my eyes about 1992. Some fine knives came out of that old red brick building. However towards the end some pretty sad ones. Here's a late one that I took a chance on;

OR_19, That's a very handsome knife. Did it work out for you? S&M was an early love of mine. When they got them right they were imo exceptional. In terms of appearance few production knives could match them.

Thanks Quicksteel. Yep, I'm caretaker for that stag for a while. I'll post a photo tomorrow of an earlier S&M that got me started on them. Lighting is not so hot for photos tonight.

Re: Who's into S & M?
Quick Steel,
As a young man I gravitated to hunting & trapping and had and used knives but was not a collector for the sake of collecting. However I was leafing through a catalog that showed up in the mail and saw S & M knives 1992 in this red bone. I eventually bought all of that years patterns-in multiples. My hoard dwindled over the years so now in a 1992 I'm down to this, my pick of the litter and we are growing old together as we crested the mountain a while back and are on the downhill trek. This blade has it all going for it-fit, finish and mechanics.

Quick Steel,
Obliged and thanks for your kind words. I keep relearning when a good one crosses your path pull the trigger before it gets away. Happy this one is still with me.

Re: Who's into S & M?
If you are going to be down to one, that one is a good choice. Great looking knife.
Re: Who's into S & M?
Agree with all of the above.
That 1992 Cokebottle #83 is a fine looking piece of cutlery, OR-19.
My S&M passion is mostly for the 1991 Keystone Series 1, but I was lucky to snag this 1992 Dogleg Jack #51 for my Mini T collection.

True...but I sure would like to get a series 1 model #83 to go with my #51 & #03...then I should be satisfied (for awhile).jerryd6818 wrote:Yea, but not all of the '91 serirs.QTCut5 wrote:

QTCut5,
That's a fine lookin' dogleg jack. Queen was making top notch S&M's then.
Gents don't get me wrong-have a few S&M's just down to one 1992 Red. Here's another I enjoy from the stash:

In 1997 the S&M Blues were a captivating set. Here's one that followed me home (Didn't get all the mineral off the pile side photo):

That's a 29 I need to add to my pile. I particularly like the threaded bolsters on it. Very nice.Open Range-19 wrote:

That is a fine lookin' knife, even with "mineral" on it!
Are the numbers different on the S&M knives and the Queen knives of the same pattern?

I can't speak for all of Queen's patterns but the English Jacks of both brands are all #29's.

Thanks Gents,
Trying to stay out of the reflection on the blade photo does not allow the true blue bird blue color of that English jack to pop. All the 97 blues that I've seen were mighty fine. S&M's then were top notch.

Found better photos of the WRCA-a surprise gift from my best friend.

Sweet Stag on that Cotton Cleaver, OR-19...that blade looks capable of harvesting a couple of acres in one fell swoop!
Final showing of this Teardrop/Bomber Jack with Interior Mammoth handle (going up on the eBay auction block today). Got to make room for some new arrivals. Always a tough decision of what to hang onto and what to let go of. I really like this knife, but its time has come.

Re: Who's into S & M?
Thanks QTCut5,
My only knife of that pattern and some fine stag on it indeed.
That sure is one swell ivory you've posted.
Re: Who's into S & M?
Seeing that Cotton Sampler got me fixated on stag.
I love stag and I have a lot of it, but I'll start with this #51 from my Mini Trapper collection which has an unusual diamond tang stamp on the pile side of the clip blade. Also interesting to note: the pattern number (032151) is etched on the pile side of the spay blade--all my other S&Ms have the etchings on the mark side of the blades.

QTCut5,
Stag, bar shield and tang diamond, sure is mighty fine. A real looker.
