What species of wood is this?
I'm not the first owner of this knife & I sure don't recognize the wood. The box, which I assume is the proper one, reads #20CZ. I'd be appreciative if I could learn what the handles are made of.

Well, I don't know what species of wood that is but it looks similar to this stick of Mahogany that I have.
I don't know what kind of Mahogany I have either, if it is Mahogany.

To me it looks like stained or died oak.

Looks good whatever it is.

I agree with eveled, with that wood as porous as it is, it could be Oak.eveled wrote:To me it looks like stained or died oak.

The letters “CZ” on the label stand for “curly zebrawood”. Queen used this wood as a handle material on a variety of standard production knife patterns for several years in the 2000s. The blades on most of these knives were made from D2 steel.geocash wrote:I'm not the first owner of this knife & I sure don't recognize the wood. I really appreciate that, Josh. And thanks, too, FJR, eveled & samb1955.Greenman wrote:The letters “CZ” on the label stand for “curly zebrawood”. I thought the links were really interesting & I was surprised how many different woods have been, or still are, called zebrawood. I can see why, though. Thanks, again.
