Another English Jack

Today I found a #29 English Jack. It is kinda raggedy, blades are scratched, the bone is good though and it should cleanup pretty well. This one has a '52-'55 tang stamp. It was laying on a table all by itself, surrounded by stuff at a flea market. The pen really snaps but the spear is a bit lazy, kinda like me. Just noticed the blade looks short in the picture, it is a bad picture angle.

That's a nice looking old knife, Philip. There is a lot of work left in it.
How long is it?

Should be 4½". That's the standard for most English Jacks and that's what the 29's in my pile are. That's a dozy alright.

I like English jacks. I viewed Winterbottom bone Queens on the net before I ever bought one; I thought they looked a little ho-hum. In hand that bone is very nice indeed. Nice catch!

I like English Jacks, though I do not collect them. That one looks really good.

Here is mi Winchester 2907 English jack. Both blades tang stamped WINCHESTER TRADE MARK MADE IN U.S.A. And the back side of the clip blade is 2907.

I think this S&M F&W Series 3 Edition is my favorite. To me, it favors a Schrade 2OT.

Nice blades on that one, Jerry.

I think Challenge had a pretty good idea of what a English jack should look like. :)
