Queen / Schatt & Morgan Scout Knife

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Queen / Schatt & Morgan Scout Knife

Post by Daryl »

I just won a very pretty Schatt & Morgan #0642SK Scout/camp knife on the Bay. I've been collecting both Scout knives and Queen knives for a while, and this is the first time I've seen this one. Even Scoutknives.net doesn't have a listing for it, and they have darned near everything.

I'll post a picture as soon as it arrives. Meanwhile, has anyone here seen this one before?

I used to have one in Smooth Brown Bone that I picked up from SMKW while visiting the area. My memory of the knife is vague but I seem to remember that mine had "1 of 100" etched on the blade implying that it was an SFO. I don't remember if mine had a bail or not.

It was a good knife. Heavy and stout.

Nice!

All of the Queen and S&M knives I've got are well-made and feel great in the hand.

I am a little surprised at how inaccessible and hard to open some of the blades are. Even if I had thumbnails of iron, which I do not, I doubt I could use this as an EDC. I had to pry the blades open with the bottle opener of a Victorinox SAK, and it was hard to get to the inner ones. My other Queen and S&M knives seem better designed than this.

Still, I'm happy with the find, and it will definitely go straight into my Scout knife collection.
