I stumbled upon this knife today. I haven't been able to find any reference to it anywhere.
Wondering if anyone can tell me anything about it.
Thanks, Brian

Re: Queen Steel #38
On one of the lists I have, says that a #38 is a swell center but in the 1963 catalog it shows a stockman knife that is 3 1/4" long closed with a sheep foot, clip and the leather punch but with a different smooth handle. What is the closed length of your knife? I couldn't make out the stamp on your knife to pinpoint an era. Another list completely skips the #38. Closer inspection, it appears your stamp is probably the '58-'60 era. The 1959 catalogue doesn't list a #38. The 1960 catalogue also doesn't list a #38.
I can see why you can't find much info on your knife.
It appears to be a fine old Queen and I'm sure everyone would agree with that!

The # 38 is is on the #16 or possibly the # 26 serpenttine pattern frame, below is a # 37 on what I believe to be a # 9 pattern which is 4 inches long in the closed position., these can be found in the Queen historical catalogs on line.bsorensen66 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 10:27 pm Thanks for the information. The #38 has been used for a number of patterns, especially the small balloon in three-blade. The punch was only a few years, 1977-1981 and the #38 did not reappear until 1998. It got caught in the inflation and complete changes in Queen line of knives at the end of the '70s and early '80s - "Rawhides", "Chip Barks". Here is a Guide catalog summary for the #38. My favorite is the earliest 38 - jumbo which eventually became the 83... https://queencutleryguide.com//wp-conte ... 0-2019.pdf.
