west german knives

Are the west german knives better quality? Better steel? earlier production?

W. German knives were of higher quality and are older (pre 1982 I think)

modern ones have squared bolster edges and are not as rounded and finely finished as the older ones. But are still of excellent quality.
Here is a 10cm early 70's production W. German I just got in todays mail.

I like the blade profile and crisp actions of the older knives as well

I picked this knife up this weekend and i have not seen these with the clip blade and the tang stamp thats on this one? Do any of you have some info on this knife? I think it is a older hubertus made for import. the knife is marked F.A. Bower import co, Germany..

It's a contract knife made for Bower, but not by Hubertus.
F. A. Bower leverlocks are common with a clip blade and a long pull.
This is a later model, possibly late 60 or early 70s. Nickel-plated bolsters, large pre-formed heads on the scale pins.
