Vintage Hubertus single-bladed :trick" knife

Hi y'all
Like most, I buy, sell, rent, trade, swap and giveaway knives (lol)
An old collector and past importer of knives had an old but mint Hubertus trick single bladed knife that I liked.
The knife is a scale release model - not the pen knife second blade style release mechanism. I do see those.
It's opening hard and hanging up with a burr (perhaps) and I'm about to remedy that (I hope)
I am not per se a Hubertus man and I have never seen this scale release on a Hubby ever before and I can't locate any info online,.
Can someone chime in with any manufacturing data such as years of production and how many millions or billions of these were produced.
I say that jokingly because most guys when they've never seen a particular knife want to, and do, assume it's a rare knife.
I doubt it is.
My old collector buddy said this knife having the nail nick was a diversion devised by Hubertus to help them get the outlawed auto knives past customs after 1957'?
I will say she's a beauty but a tough opener due to a burr or overtaught spring placing pressure on the searpoint.
Thanks in advance
Jerry Mack

Hi
No - the Hubertus you showed is some new model
the Hubertus I have looks like a Hubertus we'd all know was a Hubertus
Mine is the 6th knife from the top with the stag Hubertus scales and Hubertus blade - yes, it is a scale release
thanks for any help
Jerry

We called those "palm squeezers" because of the way you could flex your large thumb muscle to activate the scale release. Quite a few of those had issues like you are describing and were sent back. Popular in 80s and maybe into the 90s. A little generic, but I hope it helps. Bringing pretty fair money these days. $250 or so "in the day.

Hubertus made two models. They weren’t being made in the later 1980’s so I’m not sure when they started or stopped for sure. Most of mine came from the owner long after they were out of production.
