Camillus # 69 Rancher
Camillus # 69 Rancher
Here's one more knife I picked up this weekend at another estate sale. A Camillus # 69 Rancher stockman. When I found it, it appeared as though it had been used for everything but cutting. It took a little bit of elbow grease to make it appear as more of the knife it was designed to be. It's listed in the 1972 catalog of which I believe that's about the time frame this particular knife was produced. It has synthetic jigged handles, but the earlier version of it came with jigged bone handles. It's missing the oval shield it came with, but it cleaned up well and is a very solid knife. I'm planning on gifting it to a good friend of mine who run's a 2 nd. hand store. He's given me some very good deals on various items I've picked up from him over the years, particuarly on knives, so I'm going to return him a favor with this knife. The blades have good snap and are solid when open. I believe he'll like it. Bull

Re: Camillus # 69 Rancher
Camillus # 69 Rancher stockman? Ummm, no. The Rancher was an entirely different line and the #69 was not part of it. The 69 is a "Deluxe Premium Stock" knife, made from 1946 until sometime between 1984 and 1990. They started in 1946 with bone handles, Nickel Silver milled liners, Nickel Silver pins and bolsters. That's what made them deluxe. By the time they were phased out in the late 1980's, all that special stuff was gone. However, they were still called a Deluxe Premium Stock knife.
For a stockman they are a mean motorscooter. I have several and they are one of those patterns that's difficult for me to pass up when they come up for sale. If your friend doesn't like it, he needs his head examined.

I have one that I believe is early 50's-60's in brown bone just like your first image 268
I thought it was a serpentine stockman... Thank you JerryD for posting the correct pattern name, and number.
#69 Deluxe Premium Stock knife. Now to remember it

Love me a #69 Camillus too. Schrade 61OT also.
I never met a Schrade I didn't like
Re: Camillus # 69 Rancher
The blade on mine reads: "Camillus Deluxe Stock Knife".
I'm guessing they dropped the "Premium" when they went from bone to delrin.
