camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Nice bones and that long pen blade are things I like about these. And the full saber master checks all the boxes.

Man I gotta say what a great friend Greg is! ::nod:: Several years ago I needed to get may car fixed and I didn't the money. So Greg and I came to deal that he would buy 12 of my 72's so that I could afford the repairs. After many years we have struck another deal to for me to buy back those knives! What a friend Greg is! I'm stoked about getting those back! ::handshake:: Thanks again Greg! Greg and my other AAPK friends are like family to me! Can't say enough :D So here the knives in question:
0E199A62-5BE2-48E4-8D7C-1D0E50B5C8DDL0001.jpg
We have an Orvis in a presentation box.
A McGrew Hillbilly Special.
A Stanley.
Two 1047 Scout knives. One with round shield and the other the federal style.
Three craftsman 72's.
A couple of first gen with awesome bone handles.
And a short line second gen that I gave some Moose paddle covers to many years ago!
And a Camillus 72 box! Wow!

So I decided to add them all to my display case:

Made a very nice display last night..... When I woke up this morning the glass was cracked because I over stuffed the case. ::facepalm:: ::shrug::
Guess I'll have buy a couple of new cases on pay day! Thanks again for helping bring these 72's home Greg! ::handshake::

I bought this on Halloween out of morbid curiosity. This afternoon, it arrived and joined my coIlection. It is a CAMILLUS 72, 2 blades, swelled center, short line tang stamp, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. It no longer has a third blade. After careful comparison of this CAMILLUS 72 pocket knife, to my other 1st and 2nd generation CAMILLUS 72 pocket knives, I'm 99.999% sure that this was a 1st generation CAMILLUS 72. If the third blade broke off, it broke off perfectly even from the tang. To me, this is still a good looking, early, CAMILLUS 72. I gave the blades a minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
