The Other Brands

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Thanks! I was a Boy Scout when I was a kid and there is a soft spot in me for a camping pocket knife. :)

Oddly enough, this is the only CAMCO pocket knife that I have. It was just one out of a group of pocket knives that I bought. I didn't buy the group for this particular pocket knife. Contrary to the way it looks, except for missing the pivot end mini bolsters, this little guy is still pretty tight. BAD wobble (missing bolsters), but good snap. It had some kind of lettering on the handle, but it can't be read now. It's in the same condition that it was in when I received it. I'm posting this for future reference. ::facepalm::

If it is 3-1/8 inch closed it is a Camco 801. I think camillus / Camco quit producing it by 1960.

Nice! Those old scout knives are neat. I still carry my Dad’s every blue moon. I still use the can opener too.
