Re: camillus #72
That's a good possibility JP. I have a few "end of days" Camillus knives and it's interesting to see what they made for who.

The variations of Camillus end of days knives never cease to amaze me. Very nice Bomb and Good on Reverend for being the Bombardier .#goldpan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 4:21 am I was bombed by Reverend today with this 72. This one I’m not sure about. I think it was made by Camillus. It has a McGrew shield. Obvious Camillus delrin handles and sports a Western USA tang stamp. The pile side is marked stainless W742. I believe the Western 742 is a stockman. What I think happened was that Camillus was in a hurry to make knives towards end and assembled the knife with whatever parts they had on hand. Anyone have any ideas?

I have some others but this one caught my eye. It was listed over on Facebook Camillus Knife Collectors. I contacted the seller and we came to a price and it lives at my house now. 2nd generation short line with bone handles in what I think is pretty good shape. Thanks for looking.

That's a good one, Dlegg! I still haven't found a bone 72 that meets my money for condition ratio. They are either way too much money, or look like a truck ran over them. I'll find one eventually. Luckily I like the black handles they put on them. That one you just got has just the right patina. Enjoy it!doglegg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 2:35 pm I have some others but this one caught my eye. Re: camillus #72
Hey JP I missed out on the white handled 1047. I came back to this thread a little too late...
I found an unused display case in my closet today and gave most of my 72 collection a new home. Must be my lucky day. I found this short line 72 floating in the Bay an retrieved it for 30 bucks!

Like to use the glass covered case as well, been getting them on Sale at Hobby Lobby .
That Bone short line is a dandy and 30 bucks well Done
It also has no shield and don’t see many that way. I just have 2 with no shield . We have a thread here somewhere about the No Shield 72 s . Don’t think there’s been but a handful of them posted. If you would check it out and post it there would appreciate it. Do feel they’re getting hard to find without the typical Camillus Shield . Thanks for sharing
Take Care over there.

Love your display JP. Lots of good blades there! I need to find another case. Most of whats left of my collection is in boxes in the closet. One of these days. This Rigid came in the mail today, with box.
I'm still waiting for the short line 72 to get here......
