camillus #72
Re: camillus #72
Yes Sir there are several advertisers and if you ordered enough you could get your own tang stamp. Coke and Harley Davidson come to mind. Also Sears and Wards and several hardware stores. Then a lot of copy cats.

And more variations and Clones seem to pop up often also.

Still like to hang around the #72 thread and learn about all the variants. Since my original Scout #72 was buried in a tool drawer for 35yrs, I never got to use it or collect others.

Thanks all, good to see the Camillus section posting more. Take care

Re: camillus #72
Here’s my MoorMans 72. My dad picked it up at a gun show because he knew I liked 72’s. Neither of us knew it was a hard to find variation so I packed it for a while before learning better and putting it up. It does have one pin crack that I noticed tonight, but otherwise is in decent condition.
Excuse the bad pics, it’s dark outside and this was taken in the living room.

Re: camillus #72
Wade I had not seen the MoorMans with the yellow jacket etch. Cool.
Re: camillus #72
Thank you. It’s te only one I’ve ever seen in the flesh. Did some not have the yellow jacket etch?

Re: camillus #72
I have seen yellow handled ones without the Yello Jaket etch.
Re: camillus #72
That is a hard to find one, and the etch to boot . Seen one like it in Janesville , years ago but in worse shape. Thanks for sharing that , wonder how many have the yellow jacket etch? Take care guys, stay warm .

Re: camillus #72
I would guess the etching disappears pretty quickly with use and handling with salty hands....probably why you don't see more of them.

Re: camillus #72
I can’t speak for Cuz, and I don’t know the “blue book” on them. But this one was bought at a gun show from a dealer for $30 or less, I can’t remember the exact price, but I know dad wouldn’t pay more than $30. I wan’t to say it was $25.Ripster wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 6:56 pmJerryD, nice , nice knives there Sir! And it great shape. You are the librarian of 72s, as Colonel said,”nice library” . Re: camillus #72
After checking Wade, my yellow handle MoorMans also has the Yello Jaket etch. So much for memory.
Re: camillus #72
That’s a pleasant surprise, good for you . Now you got us going, shoot us a pic . Also have a question, that green box Remington ? What’s the stamp on it? And did Remington have many of the 72s or variations, clones, done by Camillus .
Colonel, Thank you for info on your MoorMan/ Yello -Jaket etch . That sure seems like a heck of a good price.
Have a good one , stay warm.

Re: camillus #72
Camillus made 3 models of the 72 for Remington. All with Remington tang stamps ( if I remember right). A black bone, a wood and the last one slips my mind.Ripster wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 9:47 pmThat’s a pleasant surprise, good for you . Now you got us going, shoot us a pic . Floyd, here are the 4 different Remingtons that I have
and Smitty has another Remington that is different from my 4.
So, there are 5 Remington variations of the CAMILLUS 72.
Of course they're in the CAMILLUS 72 Clone/Variation thread.
Here's the link to my 4.

Re: camillus #72
I think you are right Vit, 3 basic models with variations in the models. I'm not sure why the black bone one wouldn't be in the Remington Catalogue. There was the HD 14 Harley Davidson black bone, the Remington and also a Camillus one.

Am I seeing right? Are the clip blade all flat ground in those instead of half saber?

You are correct. Those were all made after Camillus dropped the saber grind main blades.
