camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

That old sword brand 72 is some kind of fine! Wow!

Now that's cool, Steve!

BTW, I'm really enjoying the Fairmount jack and the 6392 I got from you.

Thanks again,

This afternoon, this CAMILLUS 72, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife, joins my collection. Not the nicest example that I've obtained, but the price was right. It will see some pocket time. It's missing the shield. Yes, the handles are two different colors/shades. I cleaned what I could, took some pictures and here it is.

Added another Shortline 72 to my Camillus family today. It has the black stagged composite handles which was produced without a shield, and have just a little shrinkage. Of course it has the Camillus Short Line Tang Stamp, & has the Sabre Clip master blade, with a Coping Blade and Pen Clip Blade. All blades are tight, no wobble and all blades have near new sounding snap. The blades are full but do have light scratches, some spots, but show no signs of abusive or excessive sharpening. The blade wells were fairly clean, but since oiling the blades I do get some old darker oil from between the blades and springs. But I will flush it a couple of times and should be good. The bolsters have light scratches and one does have a couple of pin point dimples like it could have been dropped. Overall a good looking 72 for it's age. I am pleased with it.
