camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

The other day when I was over at moms taking the battery out of the mower for her. She said I need one of those bigger pocket knives like you got. I showed her several different models to her and asked her which one she liked. She picked out the 72. I told her I'd pick one out of my pile of 72's for her. Fast forward. When I gave her the 72 I'd picked out she got this big smile on her face. That smile was priceless. Here is a pic of mom with her 72.

David, I like the story and your mom's taste in knives better than I like that 72 in her hand. You win the good son award parting with one so long before Mother's Day. ::poke::

Floyd, are you actively pursuing a collection of all 72's and all the clones? I might be of some assistance on what to look for.

I'm not really pursuing them Jerry. But when I happen upon them and have the money they seem to find me. The first and second model kind of ruined me with the bone. But I would not be offended if you have a list. I know I've seen Western and Rigid ones. Thanks. ::handshake::
