Remington knives by Camillus

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Post by Vit_213 »

Greetings to all fans of Camillus Cutlery!
I have a small collection of Remington knives made by Camillus. Where me to better post their photos, here or in Remington forum?

Only about 90 pieces were put in boxes.

Tom Williams: "The first Remington bullet knife was made in January of 1972 and I recall that Blackie Collins obtained permission from Remington to make an authorized bullet knife reproduction but the customer was either "Specialty Weapons" or "Weapons Specialty". I do not remember the exact name of the customer but an agreement was made between Blackie Collins and Remington to have the knives made for another customer."

Phil Gibbs: "Interestingly enough all the same parts were used on the 1982 Remington R1123 (with the blade pivot holes pulled back just enough to avoid the "flush tang" feature; one of the most demanding cutlery hafting operations I have ever seen!)"

Here's a funny looking one. An R17.
Actually I kind of like the knife, very well made but I'm having a hard time getting past the odd/weird scales.

I think they called that Dura-Stag® but I can't swear to it. Not the most attractive handles they ever made.

I had one of the Bear folding hunters also but was not real impressed with the finish on it and it has been traded.
