Camillus Pruner Knives
Camillus Pruner Knives
My #1 collection
Re: Camillus Pruner Knives
Nice knives...I have trouble sharpening that blade design. My Boker Tree Brand hawkbill is sorta less-than-sharp

"The model 1 hawkbill pruner (Camillus #07 pattern) was first made in 1946. It was made before that date, but it would have had a different model number (probably a 4 digit sales number). Camillus began using a new numbering system after WWII."carrmillus wrote:....does it have the #1 pattern no. on the back of the blade??...
Tom Williams
My knife does not have any numbers on the back side of the blade

Re: Camillus Pruner Knives
...I stand corrected, vit, mine does have the #1 pattern no., but it is not 4line, it's the short line tang stamp, which I think is 1946-1950??......... .............
Re: Camillus Pruner Knives
I know that Dale (orvet) has a Sword Brand Pruner knife with a number 1001 on the back of the blade

Addition in my collection.
Based on a careful study of all the catalogs available to me, I think this was made between 1985 and 1987 (but not for sure ).

Re: Camillus Pruner Knives
Recently, I added this piece of cutlery to my "general" CAMILLUS pocket knife collection. It is a CAMILLUS 1, hawkbill, single blade, liner lock, 4" closed, short line tang stamp (1946-1950), pocket knife. Not the nicest example, but not the worst either. It has a lot of life left in it.

Re: Camillus Pruner Knives
Yesterday this arrived and it got added to my "general" CAMILLUS pocket knife collection. This is NOT the same #1 that I posted earlier today (3 posts above this one). It is another CAMILLUS 1, single blade, hawkbill, 4" closed, liner lock, short line tang stamp pocket knife (1946-1950). Not the prettiest #1 that I've seen, but certainly not the ugliest #1 that I've seen either. It still has a lot of life left in it. It did need some cleaning, I did what I could. I took some pictures and here it is.
