Camillus Boy Scout knives

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

New (to me) 1047 white BSA whittler. I got a package deal yesterday from the vintage place, along with an Ever-Ready lather catcher razor. Catch of the day!

I have tended to avoid Scout knives, in spite of being a Life scout long past my pull date. As a kid, I just had a Kamp King (plus a Western BSA 'sheath knife'). Maybe I'm jealous of those higher quality Scout knives.

Added this one to my Camillus and Boy Scout Knife family. It is the 1985 Camillus Boy Scouts 75th Anniversary Knife. This Anniversary knife was only produced in 1985. The only pattern or reference number I could find was on scoutknives.net which says it is a CAMW3M. It does have the stainless blades, delrin handles with the single rivit, and round Boy Scout shield. The tang stamp is the Long Line Italic or slanted Camillus tang stamp. "75th Anniversary / Boy Scouts of America / 1910 1985" is etched on the main blade. The knife came in the original plastic wrap in it's original box although the box is worn. The knife is like new, shows no signs of use, and all blades are tight with great snap. It does have some of the original oil on it, which is more like a really super thin grease. No cleaning was needed, although I think I will see if some fresh synthetic oil will displace some of the original lube.

And an update of my photo from Tue Oct 13, 2015 3:22 am in this thread.
Pattern 5761 (1987-1988), pattern 5818 (1988-1989) and pattern 5818 (1989-1994)
bsa 1065x3.jpg
Vit, As always Great looking pictures
Here is one more in the series with a lanyard hole
Depending on when it was made, that's either the C1066 (1991 to 1996) or the BSA066 (1967 to 2006), a single blade lockback. There was a double blade version, either C1068 or the BSA068, same time periods. The C1068/BSA068 were advertised as the "Woodsman Double Lockback". The C1066/BSA066 was simply "a single blade lockback" in the advertising.

The OP knife is missing its lanyard hole liner "pin".

The C1066 and C1068 are in the 1992 catalog but they are NOT in the 1990 catalog. Since they are not listed in the NEW FOR 1992 section of the 1992 catalog, I assume they came out in 1991. Haven't seen a 1991 catalog tp verify that assumption.

I have this very nice old example of a Camillus Boy Scout style knife - Tang Stamp indicates late 1930's early 1940's : pre Dating the Official Boy Sout Knife launched in 1947.
I would like to make a belt pouch for it and keep it as authentic looking as possible.
However it seems from my reading the BSKnives were more commonly carried in a pocket with a long lanyard from the bail attached to the belt.
Can anyone confirm this please? And/Or has anyone got any photos of a Boy Scout Belt Pouch for the Boy Scout Pocket Knife?

Thanks Derek

When I was a scout, 65+ years ago, they sold a belt clip to hang the knife. All the major department stores had Scout equipment sections. I think they still make a clip like that. I've never seen a pouch for a pocket knife except the combination sheath for a hunter and a multiblade. Try a Scout equipment site.
Good luck. (Nice knife) J.O'.
