JP, cool pick up on the rope knife. You will have everything in the book before to long. The hunt sure is fun.

Smitty you got me thinking, I have an Electrician's Knife marked 'US Property on the blade', I need to dig it out and post a picture.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 5:22 pmThanks JP. Very nice looking USCG rope knife. As for the tang stamp difference, a lot of times the contracts set up through the Governments GSA office with manufactures would usually have all the requirements.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Camillus? (pre-1960)
Here is one I rescued from an antique store over the weekend.
Not too awful bad. The main blade is pretty good.
It has the "sword Brand" tang stamp on the mark side tang.
Does the "SWORD BRAND" stamp make it a 1941 - 1946 knife?
Here is a (sorta)_ picture of the tang stamp....
Somebody has already done a little work on it. The pile side cover looks like a pile of maple. At least the color is similar to the bone on the mark side.......
Here is the pile side stamp....
Looking from the top, the liner is warped. Probably because the "repair man" didn't disassemble the knife to do the repair. No pins holding the cover on.
Looks like I have me some projects for winter shop time....
This one needs some love.

Found this old WW 2 Navy General Utility knife floating in the bay recently. I put in a low price for it and low and behold no one else bid. I was thrilled. Love the bones on these old knives and after the 72 it is about my favorite pattern. Thanks for looking.

If I'd spotted it, you'd have had some competition. Congratulations, and glad it went to an appreciative new owner!

Dan I would have been proud for you if you had won it. The good think is that the bay is always being freshly stocked.

Here’s a couple of Sword Brands . The Tip Top W/ Spear main ,model #2011 is tight, appropriate half stops. One cover has been patched so may have to get this sent to one of our guys to get new covers. Has Sword brand stamp on main and 4 line on other . A Lobster knife with sword Brand on main . Has some cracks in covers but will do for now.
Then a couple 4 liners . The EO ,spear main ,both blades have nice half stops and are solid. This EO is slimmer than most others like this ,rides in pocket nice. And a little green colored 2 blade with 4 line stamp on both blades and no half stops.
