I found me a Remington made by Camillus

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I found me a Remington made by Camillus

Post by Meridian_Mike »

I was going it leave feedback for a knife that just walked in the door and low-and-behold I see a notice that the seller has new knives listed...
Well, dog-gone-it... I had to go look. SO, I see this Remington R-3 and it sho' looked good, so I hit the "buy-it-now".
Anyway..... it's in the mail and on it's way home.
I did a little research here and looks like it might be about 1988 or so and made by Camillus. I can't wait.... it looks like a good 'un.

Looks like it was carried for a while by looking at the pouch but it sho' don't have a lot of wear.

It made me smile.....

That sure is a beauty! Just out of curiosity, what was the knife that walked in the door?

That looks like an elk hunter's knife. I presume Remington or Camillus designed the saw for an elk's pelvis. It is an unusual saw in that all its teeth are on one side. The wood saws in Victorinox, Boker and the boy scout version of that Camillus pattern have cross cut saws. Two back locks make a classy knife.

Here is the best pic I have of the steel until I get it in my happy little hands.....

I really like the way the leather has aged. Yet, the knife has a few sharpening scratches, has a full blade ans even the etching is still on the blade (not that I really care about the "etch").

The one that walked in the door was an Old Timer. I got this 72OT to upgrade the one that is in my, "need to get 'em all" collection.
I started out my collecting addiction by collecting Old Timers...... and that sprang from the Ultster Old Timers.....

(As you can see....... it NEVER ends)

Thanks, Mike.
Sorry, of course you don't have it yet. ::facepalm::
I have a couple of those little steels from somewhere.
They're kind of neat.

Yep... I have another one with a Swiss Army Knife.... They do the job.
Seems like I saw somewhere that had replacements for sale..... (Maybe Victorinox?)
