Stainless Cutlery Co. New York City – Post Them If You Have Them
Re: Stainless Cutlery Co. New York City – Post Them If You Have Them
I was given this knife when I was a kid years ago. The blades where like this when I recieved it. Is there anyone that knows where to get replacement blades?
Re: Stainless Cutlery Co. New York City – Post Them If You Have Them
Stainless Cutlery Company was a brand name used by Camillus. I don't know the exact dates, I would have to look them up but they were discontinued I believed long before Camillus went out of business in 2007.
I think the Stainless Cutlery brand was prior to World War II.
Your best source for a replacement blade would be to find a donor knife, type of the same model number that has good blades they can be used to replace the ones in your old knife.

Welcome here, BenZ.
I assume you want to replace the blades so you can use the knife.
There are many other knives available, including some Stainless brands, that you may want to use for pocket carry.
That nice one you have there could remain as a remembrance. Just a thought.
I hope you find what you want.
Thanks for posting here.

Here's a used one, but it does not have the "Stainless Sportsman" etch on the blade. I'm assuming it is an early 90's make. I just recently acquired it and discovered this old thread.

What a beautiful old tickler, LJ. If it had a etch it was worn off long ago.
Beautiful knife! Thank you for posting it here.

Thanks Vit and Joe for the insight. Wow...prior to WWII? Now that would be something. This knife has seen some use, for the "Stainless" word on the fish medallion has been worn off, but you can still make out the word "steel". I thought it was a 1991 model due to the 1991 advertisement on page 6 of this thread. And again, I'm assuming the scales are Indian Stag...or some kind of stag. The snap is wicked...don't want to get my fingers in the way when closing it.

Re: Stainless Cutlery Co. New York City – Post Them If You Have Them
Posted these on the Camillus site yesterday. Advised to show them here.
GSMITH: I have that same bone pen. It's a beauty! Great jigging and nearly mint.
The smaller "box" pen has red/green and red/gold transitioning celluloid scales.
I think these knives and all the ones shown in this thread are rather high quality, in the style of the SWORD line. Nice thread !

You know, I've had a lot of these old knives for many years, but hanging around this site has really given me a new appreciation for them. I get them out, oil 'em up, wipe 'em down and enjoy them with other folks here. Big enjoyment. Thanks J.O'.

Morning all, here’s a couple of pics of my latest. This came as a surprise in a package of knives that bought from Roland . It’s in solid shape, very well built, swedges on both blades. A few scratches on the blades , may buff out but think will leave them for now.
Great thread here
Ridge, that’s a nice pair you got there ! This forum sure is helpful, and gets a guy going again digging thru and finding these small gems .
Thanks to all here ,take care, stay safe

Thank you FRJ,Skip and Smitty . Been looking for more of these, and trying to learn more about the Stainless Steel history in Cutlery. It wasn’t accepted at all at first,my Gramps mentioned more than once his Dad and Uncles didn’t like it and thought it a fad !
Have a good one out there

Re: Stainless Cutlery Co. New York City – Post Them If You Have Them
The reason Stainless Cutlery Co knives are so well made is that Camillus wanted to convert people who thought that stainless steel could not be a good knife blade steel. Hence every aspect of these knives is top quality so that the 'doubters' would not find anything they could complain about as being 'inferior'.
