Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

After getting it and looking at the handles I am wondering if this might also be one of the black bone knives. Remington, Ole Smoky, Harley Davidson and Camillus 72 I am aware of but after looking this one over and comparing it to those the handles sure look the same. This foreign invader arrived this afternoon and became the latest addition to my CAMILLUS 72 variation/clone collection. It is another unbranded, 3 blades, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. I can not see or detect ANY evidence of any previous markings, etches or tang stamps. It was probably made in Pakistan or China. To me, as long as a pocket knife meets the "72" variations/clones criteria, the country of origin does not matter. But again, ONLY in the "72" pattern. It is very well made, it is in EXCELLENT condition and it did not require any special attention. What first attracted me to this pocket knife and for some inexplicable reason, is that I really like the "camouflage" handles. I took some pictures and here it is.

This "72" clone came in the mail today. It was sent to me by Reverand as a Bomb! Thanks Reverand! I'm sure its a Camillus 72 but the shield is a McGrew. It has a Western tang stamp instead of the McGrew stamp. The pile side is marked stainless W742. Awesome ::tu:: I'm going to put and edge on it and let it ride in my pocket for awhile! Thanks again Reverand! :D

Was recently able to purchase this fabulous Schrade 863 KON-KAV blade etched with bone handles. I had been on the hunt for sometime. This one is immaculate. What a great friend to sell it to me. If I sound excited about it I am. Thanks for looking.

Congratulations. Those are hard to find. Floyd, it took a small forever to find an 863 KON-KAV. When I finally found one, which I thought was in excellent condition, it wasn't as pristine as yours. That right there is a beauty!!

Jerry, I agree with you as their being hard to find. I am thrilled with this one. Thank you. Now to find that BSA with the bone handle, no shield but having a blade etch. ::handshake::
