Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Was recently able to purchase this fabulous Schrade 863 KON-KAV blade etched with bone handles. I had been on the hunt for sometime. This one is immaculate. What a great friend to sell it to me. If I sound excited about it I am. Thanks for looking.

Congratulations. Those are hard to find. Floyd, it took a small forever to find an 863 KON-KAV. When I finally found one, which I thought was in excellent condition, it wasn't as pristine as yours. That right there is a beauty!!

This CAMILLUS "72" variation/clone arrived yesterday afternoon and became the latest pocket knife to join my collection and this topic or thread. It is another Ulster 63, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, 2 tang stamps, "whittler" pocket knife. This is my thirteenth "63", but it is my first "63" with "Ulster" on the shield. It needed some cleaning. I did what I could, took some pictures and here it is.

Skip I would say your knife was made before 1959-60.It has the pins in the bolster.
The couple of Ulster I have where made with the Swinden System ( 1959-60 onwards ) made in the Schrade factory.
I do have a Craftsman made later in the Imperial side of the factory with pins in the bolsters.

What a nice Craftsman / Imperial you have with Etch . Wasn’t aware of the one with the Craftsman etch. Thanks for posting that one ::tu:: ::tu::
Have this Craftsman 9494 ,been used a bit but still solid and all blades function properly. And the Hollinger Fremont knife in solid shape and will clean it lightly .
Skip that Ulster with Ulster shield is a dandy ,great piece ::tu::

It has a Western tang stamp instead of the McGrew stamp. The pile side is marked stainless W742. Awesome ::tu:: I'm going to put and edge on it and let it ride in my pocket for awhile!
