Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

This afternoon, this pocket knife joined my CAMILLUS 72 variation/clone collection. It's a KEEN KUTTER 786, 3 blade, swelled center, milled liners, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. The only difference, that I can see, between the KEEN KUTTER 786 and the KEEN KUTTER K30, is that the 786 has milled liners and the K30 doesn't. The main blade has seen better days. This KEEN KUTTER pattern doesn't make an appearance that often, so I bought it. It will still make a good filler until a better one surfaces. It did require some cleaning. I cleaned it up, took some pictures and here it is.

Here's the link to my two (so far), KEEN KUTTER K30 pocket knives.

Great Snag Skip!! ::tu:: Another one of what I call "Unicorns" as far as the 72 Clones go. Your correct, you don't see many Keen Kutter K30's or 786's pop up often. Still a good looking piece. At least they tried to make the master blade look like a Wharcliffe blade. :D

Thanks JP. As far as the different shields, I don't have a clue but if I were to guess, I'd guess it's a different era thing, kinda like the different model numbers. ::shrug::

So basically Floyd, your saying it's all Jerry's fault !? I Like IT!! That should be in our reason's when we show off a new knife. Example: "I added this new XXX knife to my collection. It's Jerry's Fault!!" ::super_happy::

Floyd, I have found that on most collectible forums (those with good natured members that are considered friends) a lot of times will jokingly accuse one member of being the reason for a lot of acquisitions. Back on the old SurplusRifle.com forum we had a member who happend to be one of the senior members and was also a retired Navy CPO. His forum name was Burner. Besides being a veteran, and knowledgeable member on older Surplus Collectible Rifles, he was also an expert gunsmith and excellent builder of certain firearms such as semi-auto AK's. But we jokingly accused him of being the reason anytime we added a new rifle to our collections or on upgrades or builds. So it was a common phrase to post "It's Burners Fault". Those were good and fun times. So to me, It's kind of fun here to jokingly say it's Jerry's fault. It's all in fun and keeping with the Camaraderie of good people. ::tu::
