Not Playing With A Full Deck.....

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

In answer to many questions about it,

YES, the full set was made with both WESTERN and CAMILLUS stamps.

The ones with the WESTERN stamp are from 1996/1997, depending on how you read the advertising.

On 9 December 1996 (date on the flyer), Camillus printed a 6 page flyer titled "1997 New Product Introductions".

Page 5 of this flyer lists the WESTERN Duralens® Gambler Lockbacks - Suggested Retail $22.95
WD110 - 10 of Hearts
WD111 - Jack of Hearts
WD112 - Queen of Hearts
WD113 - King of Hearts
WD114 - Ace of Hearts

This page also depicts the FOUR OF A KIND Money clips, No Tools - Suggested Retail - $7.95
WD215 - King of Hearts
WD216 - King of Diamonds
WD217 - King of Spades
WD218 - King of Clubs

The Gambler series shows up in the 1996/7 flyer AND the 1997 Price Sheet AND the 1999 Price Sheet but NOT in the 1998 Price Sheet. The FOAK money clips show in the same flyer and in the 1997 Price Sheet, the 1998 Price Sheet AND the 1999 Price Sheet.

As for when the CAMILLUS stamped versions were made, I have NOT located that date. Looking through the Camillus catalogs and price sheets that I either have or have perused online, I can find no reference to the Gambler knives.

The CD872, the Queen of Hearts multi-tool, appears in the 2001 and 2002 Price Sheets, and in the 2003 catalog but NOT in the 2003 Price Sheet.

My guess, and it is only a guess until someone discovers an advertisement or other documentation, is that the CAMILLUS stamped Gambler series were 2001 to 2003, the same time frame as the Queen of Hearts multi-tool.

This pocket knife arrived yesterday afternoon and it became the latest "card" to be added to the "deck." It is a CAMILLUS, "Queen Of Hearts", single blade, 3 1/8" closed, lockback pocket knife. It has a CAMILLUS, NOT a WESTERN tang stamp. This is my fourth "card" pocket knife with a CAMILLUS tang stamp. I now have two King Of Hearts and two Queen Of Hearts with a CAMILLUS tang stamp. It didn't need any cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

This pocket knife arrived today and it became the most recent "card" to be added to the "deck." It is a CAMILLUS, "10 Of Hearts", single blade, 3 1/8" closed, lockback pocket knife. It has a CAMILLUS tang ETCH, NOT a tang stamp. This is my first "card" pocket knife, CAMILLUS or WESTERN, with a tang ETCH. Yet ANOTHER "variation" of these "card" pocket knives that I have to put together a complete a set of. It didn't need any cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Very recently, I added this "card" to the "deck." It is a WESTERN U.S.A., "Queen Of Hearts", single blade, one tang stamp, 3 1/8" closed, lockback pocket knife. The tang stamp is X'd out. This is my second X'd out tang stamp on a WESTERN U.S.A., "Queen Of Hearts" pocket knife. The other one has been previously posted under this topic or thread. It didn't need any cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is. The last picture is of the previously posted, X'd out, WESTERN U.S.A., "Queen Of Hearts" tang stamp.

I never knew about these knives. Those knives are beautiful! I really love the back of the card. The art on both sides are awesome. But the pile side covers grab my attention. ::super_happy:: Thanks to everyone that posted on the history of these knives. And thanks especially to you fellas for the awesome pictures. I didn't know this was available until it was too late. I am posting the following for posterity and for future reference. It is a WESTERN U.S.A., single blade, single tang stamp, Ace of Hearts, playing card pocket knife. It appears that the tang stamp has been X'd out. The pictures belong to the seller and have NOT been edited, altered or enhanced by me in any fashion, EXCEPT for the size.
