I like to play the Ponies and their clones.

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Added another one to my Pony Jack family this past week. This has been one that has been hard to find (for me anyway) in decent shape. They are usually pretty ragged out. It is a Craftsman 9507, 2-7/8" closed Pony Jack with the white jigged delrin handles, with the oval craftsman shield without the stamped crown around the word Craftsman. The shield does have some scratches. Both blades are tight with great snap, still have some original luster, but do have scratches, stains and spots. I know it is made before 1976, because by 1976 & 77 the Craftsman Pony Jack had changed to a pattern number 95041, which had the sawcut white delrin handles with the rectangle Sears Craftsman stamped shield.

Thanks Tom. Might keep your eye out, I believe Hen & Rooster in Germany makes a baby trapper that is very similar to these. Kind of like a smaller version of a Mini-Trapper, and a little slimmer. The Pony Jack at 2-7/8 inches is just a smaller version of a design that a lot of people call a Dog Leg Jack. I believe the Hen & Rooster baby trappers are a little smaller than that around 2-3/8 inch.

This pocket knife arrived recently in a large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, I was quite surprised and pleased when I discovered it and it most certainly is a keeper. It is a BOKER U.S.A., pattern 9908, two blades, two tang stamps, 2 7/8" closed, pocket knife. The main blade tang stamp reads "BOKER - U.S.A." The main blade, other side, tang stamp reads "9908" with the tree logo. It is in VERY GOOD condition. It needed some very minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

I added a couple more Pony Jacks to my group. Picked these up from Knifeaholic, and very pleased with them. Both are tang stamped KUTMASTER UTICA N.Y. U.S.A. Both have strong snap on all blades, and no wobble. One has Brown Bone handles with a Winter Bottom bone jig and traditional style bolsters. Blades are tight, strong snap but do have some wear and scratches. The second knife is a bare end Pony Jack with long front bolster. It has synthetic (possibly celluloid) handles in what I would call a green watermelon rind pattern. The handles do have some slight warpage, but I have plans for this one. I did do a warm oil soak and wiped them down. Here are some pics.

Added another to my Pony Jack stable. It is a McGrew knife Company 710MGB Single blade Pony Jack with yellow delrin handles. It was made by Camillus and is the same pattern and size as the Camillus 71Y. It is like new, with the original box and papers. It has no wear, no evidence of carry and the blade has the original finish and has not been re-sharpened.

Thanks Skip. But..... unwittingly I find I may be wondering down another side road of collecting, as I find myself searching and looking at other patterns of McGrew Knives. ::facepalm::
