Camillus Steelies

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Camillus Steelies

Post by Papa Bones »

Thought I would put this thread up. I've always called Camillus with the metal handles "Steelies." I know several of you (like myself) enjoy some of the Camillus knives with the Metal handles. Some with the Stainless Steel handles and those such as the older MIL-K's with the Monel handles. So if you like, show some of yours.

I added this one today to my Camillus Steelies. The Single clip blade 3-1/8" "WHAT-A-Knife" Great snap, positive half stops, and no evidence of being put on a stone.

I have owned a few Camillus "What-A-Knife" and they are impressive ! Very slender, very sharp, solid open and crisp snaps. It's all you actually need. What a knife !

Added this one to my Camillus Steelies family. A Camillus double line tang stamp NO.1 DURA-TOOL Hawk Bill. Like new, no use, and excellent snap on the blade.

Here are my WARNER, my WHAT-A-KNIFE and my DURA-TOOL, CAMILLUS pocket knives. The WARNER pocket knives are both single blade. The WHAT-A-KNIFE pocket knives are single blade, single blade & tool and double blade. The DURA-TOOL pocket knives are a single, hawkbill blade and a single blade & tool. My collection of MIL-K pocket knives is not shown.

Added another to my Camillus Steelies family. A Camillus "WHAT-A-KNIFE" with the clip master blade, and screwdriver with caplifter secondary. In near new condition, with excellent snap and half-stops on both blades. I've never seen these in any of the Camillus Catalogs online, so not sure of the pattern number, but it is the same size, design, and pattern as the Camillus 326 "DURA-TOOL". Here are a couple of photos and thought I would include a group photo of my Steelies Family so far.

Thanks JP. They are solid knives, and have Strong Snap. I like then, kind of remind me of carrying a SAK alox.

Added a couple more to my Steelies Group. Picked up another Camillus "WHAT-A-KNIFE", and a Camillus Single blade with "Warner" stamped frame. Both have great snap, positive half-stops, and show no signs of use. All I've done is oil the joints.
