Utica tool kit

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Utica tool kit

Post by Rdubya21 »

A few months ago I bought this knife tool kit off the bay . I’d not seen these before and thought they were pretty neat . From the offerings at the time, I choose this one because it had the nicest case and the most tools .

Upon receiving it I was quite disappointed to find only one the tools fit and it wasn’t right .

The tool was off center , and one side of the tang poked way out from the bolster . I contacted the seller and told him the problem . He promptly replied and said he had sold many of these sets and never had an issue. He also said it never occurred to him to go through them to see if they did indeed belong . He offered to send the “ correct “ tools if I was willing. As the knife was in good shape and the case also in good condition, I agreed. The replacements arrived quickly. But unfortunately we’re also not right . Rather than box it all up and ship it back I decided I could file the tangs to make them fit .

So while I don’t have an authentic set , tools fit properly and look ok . So far , other knife tool kits I’ve purchased have been correct .

I don't see the CAMILLUS connection. ::shrug::

Glad it all worked out and the seller was responsive. I see these quite often, unfortunately most don't have attachments that are stamped so one has no way of knowing unless they're snapped in place. I bought a Challenge set within the last few months mainly because all of the attachments except for the file were stamped.
