My latest Schrade
Re: My latest Schrade
Here's an interesting variant of the 194OT I grabbed a couple of months ago. I'm wondering if anyone has seen one of these before and knows when or if it was produced for sale. My web searches have shown no results.

I believe that it has been modified by an owner or acquaintance.

What, You mean it's not an ultra rare Easy Opener Gunstock Trapper for those who have bitten their thumbnails to the quick? I do have to say, whoever did the mod did a clean job.

Re: My latest Schrade
Just picked up this Schrade 735 to add to my marlin spike collection I am putting together.
I believe the knife was produced in the early '70's (but I am still doing research to be sure)

Re: My latest Schrade
Schrade stopped using their WALDEN tang stamp pretty much sometime in the year 1973.
Re: My latest Schrade
Thank you for that info, I was able to download a series of Schrade / Schrade Walden catalogs by year - it appears that the 735 switched from a wire type bail to a spike locking bail around 1961. So my knife could be quit a bit older than I first thought.tongueriver wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 9:08 pm Schrade stopped using their WALDEN tang stamp pretty much sometime in the year 1973.

I haven't followed this pattern but perhaps someone else will chime in. The first Delrin factory in the world was built in 1960. By 1962 many knife manufacturers were using this plastic as covers. If the word WALDEN does not appear on the tang of the knife it was manufactured in 1973 or later.

Re: My latest Schrade
Very recently, this pocket knife arrived and it now becomes the latest example to join this topic or thread and to join my general pocket knife collection. It came in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I was and am delighted to have it, but I did not buy the group or lot for this particular pocket knife. It is a SCHRADE, 8OT, three blades, one tang stamp, 3 15/16" closed, advertising or commemorative, stockman style pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "SCHRADE (over) U.S.A. 8OT" The main handle side says "INGERSOLL RAND - 125 YEARS OF QUALITY & - PERFORMANCE" with an 1871 - 125 - 1996 shield. The other handle side says "THE CLASSIC - IR231" and "THE CLASSIC IR231 - THE GOLD STANDARD - FOR 25 YEARS" It is numbered 08379 on the bolster. According to Jason (jxr1197), in a previous post (with a picture) under this topic or thread, these pocket knives were packaged with a special edition impact gun. It is in EXCELLENT condition. This pocket knife needed absolutely no cleaning at all. I took some pictures and here it is.

That is a good one Skip!
I THINK I might have one of those also.
Every time I find a variation of the 8OT or the 34OT I try to add it to my collection.
You gotta love those Old Timers!

Thank you, Mike.
If you still have it, you posted your Ingersoll Rand 8OT, under this
topic or thread, back on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Dale Vincent spent a lot of time and effort to compile a research list of Schrade patterns. Go to Research at the top of your page and scroll down to Schrade catalog lists of patterns and their descriptions.

I like that X-Timer,
Schrade was starting to produce some good work / user knives from 2000-2004.
I do not have one of those... Ken.
