What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Here are a couple models I hadn't seen before
Schrade Walden 879 the main clip has been re-profiled but I think it'll clean up pretty good

Still yet to figure out what difference is between a 879, 880 & 881. ::shrug::

The 879 and 881 are the same aside from the bolsters. 879 is rounded and 881 is squared. The 880 is the same as the 881 but the 880 has a saber ground main blade.

The SW 880 has a Kon Kav grind with squared bolsters, the SW 881 has a flat grind with squared bolsters....I believe that is what is referred to as the Texas Pattern and the 879 has a flat grind with rat tail bolsters.

I may have a misunderstanding of definitions. To me 'threaded' bolsters imply one (or sometimes more) thin lines cut or stamped into the bolster. 'Rat Tail' I thought meant a wider deeper channel cut or stamped into the bolster. ::shrug:: I thought this pic illustrated a rat tail bolster.

What a surprise I got this weekend!!! ::ds::
My GF stopped at a yard sale while out & about... found this old Schrade Cutlery Co. Press Button knife and picked it up for me!
Its a keeper (and actually so is she!) ::groove::
Other than a "fish tail" type in not too good condition, this is my first press button in a shadow pattern.
A previous owner certainly favored one blade over the other but is still in good working order with the blades locking about 4 out 5 times using the buttons. According to the catalog cut this one has "Golden Pearl" celluloid handles...

I gave one of those BB knives away in a little contest in the Schrade forum on BF about 9 years ago. Wonder if it is the same knife ? Could be, but likely there are about 100 others also never used 'out there'. It is a very well made knife and sheath.

Here a is Schrade Cut Co easy open pattern #2013 that I bought to carry. The handles are beautiful classic Schrade jigged bone. Very well made with solid half stops and snaps on both blades. I considered having it made into a single blade example but decided to keep it as is.

Excellent example.

The mail brought me this little bit of sunshine today. 896Y, used a little but still pretty good. The celluloid is in nice shape as well but fingers crossed.

Thanks Cal. The etch reads "beighley hdwe & tool co". I could not find much about them, but they may have been located in pittsburgh PA from what I did find. The knife came to me from PA.
