Re: My latest Schrade
Those 80s came in both Staglon, and, in very limited quantities, jigged bone. I sold my bone version to a dearly now-departed member (RIP, Rich). I also have another one pimped out by Herman Williams. And Schrade CutCo made several versions, including switches and fish knives.

The Statue of Liberty knives had particularly nice jigged bone on them. Being a stainless fan, I have the 124UH, pocket sized and slipjoint.

Re: My latest Schrade
Well.... I threw out an offer on this one and the seller took it...
It looks like it is barely used (If at all) and when I zoomed the blade, it looks like an ANNIVERSARY knife. (A little blade etch left)
It is a "4 pin" knife so it is an early issue.
Looks like it sat in the sun for a while...OR SOMETHING....?????
STILL, not a bad knife.

I figure it will clean up nice. I am going to leave the blade "as is" and try to get some color back into the covers.

Re: My latest Schrade
I have found that sometimes, you can just give those bleached out covers a good drink of oil (I use the THIN 3-in-one oil). I rub it in with my fingers and let it sit for a few days.tongueriver wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 3:17 pm scrubby scrubby steel wool and mineral oil? WD-40? How do you do it?
I guess the sun dries out that delrin and makes it white. I usually try that before I start any real scrubbing.

Re: My latest Schrade
Picked up one of these. Never really thought about getting one, But I've always thought they had good looking bone handles. A Schrade Statue of Liberty Commem, I think were produced as a SFO for JC Penny. It did come with the display box, papers and cover, but the clear plastic cover is yellowed really bad. Knife is in great shape, It is the version with the black etched blade, silver shield and bone handles.

tongueriver,
Could you please tell me how the pattern on the pile side of the blade was achieved in pic #3?
That knife is certainly an eye catcher!
