Thank you! Sorry about the slow reply-- we moved to Florida in the past two weeks and were without internet for most of that time.

Re: show your uncle henry's
I received a fillet knife today. It says in script: Uncle Henry on top line, SCHRADE+ on the middle line, USA 167 on the bottom line. It came with the scabbard, and looks to be unused or sharpened. The previous owner said it is "40 years old, never been used."
The handles/scales are the delrin imitation antler. It looks to be in very good shape. My Daughter wanted a new fillet knife for her birthday, and I inquired about a USA made fillet knife on another forum. I was offered this knife for her by a generous forum member, not this forum. All I had to do was pay the freight.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

Re: show your uncle henry's
Just a little info about one of my favorite UH patterns. In 1971 SCHRADE introduced the 172 Bear Skinner. It appears in the catalogs 71,72 and 73. I appears it got pushed out by the 153uh. In 1989 it was re introduced at the Wildcat. It appears in the catalogs for 90,91,92 and 93. This time possibly be replaced by the sharpfinger. Seems many hunters prefer a smaller easier to handle skinner but I really like the feel of this fixed blade. Here are some pics.

Thanks Cal, I’m thinking it may be from the first production run. The notches on the thumb grove are kind of cool on the SW version as well.

Great knife, and I agree that the Bear Skinner fits the hand better than just about all other SW fixed blades. Mine is also a Walden era knife, and one of my faves.

Re: show your uncle henry's
Thanks guys. I notice the sheath for the SW knife has no sharpening stone which is correct. I have the boxes and sheaths along with all the paperwork for both of mine. I store them separately so it it’s a bit of a job to dig them out. I do want to look and make sure they are correct as well. Been a while but I do not remember taking notice of that. I see the one pictured is very dark as well?? Wondering if that is from treating the leather over time or looked like that from the factory. I definitely don’t recall mine being dark leather. Have to do some digging.

Looks to me like the sheath above has been oiled and used.JAMESC41001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 11:00 pm I see the one pictured is very dark as well?? Yeah, I got it used, and the leather is just well oiled.
