What Schrade RARE knife do you have

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Mike,

That one is a Beautiful Knife and in Fantastic Condition. I have one as well, although not in as good as shape as your knife, used slightly.
These are a rarity!

Great catch!

Great knife, I had never seen the Craftsman version of the 2OT.

I believe i read in Schrade/BF maybe 10 or so years ago that the Craftsman 2OT came out a few months before the Schrade-Walden 2OT. I think it was in a post by Codger on Craftsman knives. Might be hard to find because Codger posted many times about Craftsman/Schrade knives.

Two extra-special Schrades for sure! Both are looking mighty fine for their age.

I have a box of seven fine Schrade knives on its way to me now. I'm adding two more Schrade Cut. Co. 2-1/4" lobsters to my collection. This brings me to 7 variations on the pattern with no two the same. These two are the 1926 cataloged 7606SHA and the no-shackle 7606 .

Here's the link: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/whe ... ot.466837/

MM's fine knife is 1 of 780 produced in 1959.

"A Craftsman version was made for Sears & Roebuck in 1959, identical to the standard Schrade version of the 2OT, except for the addition of an oval Craftsman shield in the mark side handle. The Sears #9530 Craftsman version of the 2OT is a bit more scarce than the standard Schrade, 780 pieces produced and shipped only in 1959. This was the only SFO use of the 2OT pattern that I am aware of. I have not yet seen the Sears 2OT box, but suspect that it is probably the same as the standard Schrade Walden. While Schrade Walden records show the Sears stock number, #9530, it does not appear on the knife. Searches have not revealed evidence of the 2OT Sleeveboard being produced for any other retail customer..."

Thank you for finding this post made by Codger. He has done so much excellent research into the history of Schrade and Craftsman knives. It does not actually say the Craftsman 2OT came out before the S-W 2OT. Both might have been released close to the same time.

I could only find this 830 on the 1956 price sheet. It's a Middleman stockman identical to the 834 except for the Kon-Kav grind on the clip. The spey and pen have the standard grind. Never seen one or even heard of it before.

I've seen pictures but I never realized how big that sucker is. Weird one for sure. Nothing about it looks 'Schrade'. BTW a normal paring knife blade is 3 or 4 inches long. I know everything's bigger in Texas, but Jeez!

Maybe a little irony. Schrade made knives for everybody. Somebody else made this for Schrade, in my opinion. Just sawblade stock butcher, hardware store bulk knives.

The knife is razor sharp the full length of the blade. Almost a cimitar. Butcher knife not as curved. Hard to hold as the handle is almost square. Records look that it was made inhouse. No stamping or marks on the blade other than US.
Not much is known about this knife.
