edit to add: The 126OT has a stainless steel blade, same as the 127UH

They were intended for the European market. Had a 440C etch. There was also the 226OT, stainless son of a gun. Same deal.

Mike you shouldn't give up on finding the 8OTY and 34OTY, they are pretty swell. It may take time but I've seen quite a few pop up over the years. I have two 8oty's and one 34oty, total investment is about $65 and two of them are minty.

There are some Schrade USA 8OTY that are from after 2004 closure brought out by Taylor and made by Camillus. I think the swage on the clip blade is different from a Schrade made clip blade. Actually these knives might have been marked: Schrade-Walden USA rather than Schrade USA.

I recon you are right... I still have them in the back of my mind.

Well.... I am happy with any Old timer as long as it has "made in USA" or "USA" somewhere on it.

I just have this mental block about the made in china stamp.

I bought this one as is, perfect user with great patina already there, I've probably sharpened it more than the previous owner did.

SO.... there is no OTY on the tangs.... only OT..... I guess I was under the impression the tang stamps were OTY....

Thanks Mike. You are correct, they are just regular ot blades. That furthers my theory that these were made to use up leftover handles from the 881y and 834y that were discontinued, also the shields are the same as the open stock knives instead of an ot shield.

Good one Mike. I just sold my 89ot since I never used it, not much of a serrations guy, but when I find a good minty one I will get another. Have you noticed how much longer the sheepsfoot is on the 89ot than the 8ot?

This one is a little bit hard to find, first issue of the 7OT, in 4 pin mode. Rumoured to have been introduced in late 1978 and possibly run to early 1982. They then went to the 3 pin in the 1990s, having orphaned the pattern for several years, in favor of HUGE production of the 7UH. I don't think they made more than 130,000 4 pin 7OTs total. This is all hearsay on my part. The first few had a 75th Anniversary etch (1904 to 1979). When they resumed production of the 7OT in the 1990s they were stainless. Anyway, I knocked this one out of its (notice correct spelling of its) Ebay nest in the wee hours on a very attractive BIN. I only see a half dozen a year for sale, none worth buying. Couldn't wait to hit the button on this one.

Yep.... I have been looking for a decent example of that one too...... Every time I find one, it is total crap ...... blade sharpened away to nothing or scales ruined.....

You are most welcome Mike. Those are 3 of my most favorite Schrade patterns. The 98OT is same as 897UH but with the Old Timer handles. There is not a sweeter small stockman knife in existence ! It was hard to let go of those 3.

I agree about the 123OT, feels just Perfect in hand, and every Schrade collector i know says the same thing, so it is not just me. I wonder why it was such a poor seller ? Only made from 1985 to part way through 1988. Not many of them 'out there' and only a few still have the original pointy tip.
If i ever see another one for sale i will be tempted to buy it.

I have the 124UH which is essentially the same, I really like that knife. The 123OT is on my "short list". Nice one Mike, looks to be in perfect factory condition.

I think it would be good to also have one that is in the user category
