Schrades are better in groups

All of my big boy 3 5/8” schrade cut cattle knives. From the top is an 8373 3/4, 8173 3/4, 8173 and an 8171. The 8171 is one of the very best knives in my collection, it is practically unused.

There are so many interesting variants of these that existed one could be kept busy searching for quite some time. I’m very glad to have acquired these so far.

Those cattle knives are a fine group!

Big lockbacks x 4!

A Christmas 1978 Edition, 4-pin LB8 predecessor (with a brass Uncle Henry shield) and three Harry Gant Commemorative knives from the early 1990s. Since they were all clean and within reach they got grouped for this shot today.

Thanks! Four's about as many as will fit on my scanner bed. They're big knives. I'm going to dig out all my Bear Paws and make a composite pic at some point. I'd like to see them all together.

Here's a deluxe group of 2-1/4" lobster knives in pearl or sterling silver.

The "L-W. Inc." sterling knife is very unusual with it's "Schrade Walden" tang-stamp. I searched everywhere online and could only come up with one other Schrade Walden example of this pattern (it was a pearl knife). I fully expected to find a "Schrade Cut. Co." stamp when I bought it but was surprised with this later stamp.

A lot of knife collectors don't realize how cool these little guys are, never having handled them. Schrade CutCo specialized in an enormous variety of small knives for discriminating ladies and gentlemen. And, in keeping with that philosophy or business model, they are believed to perhaps never made a single fixed blade!

Pre-WWII, Schrade really was making a huge number of different suit-suitable patterns. People wore suits a lot more back then.

You like what you like, but I agree that if folks actually held a nice example they'd likely be sold on the idea. I didn't know how much I liked small gent's knives until I bought my first one. When I started collecting Schrade I thought I would only collect their bigger lock-backs. Things change. A small blade and file is a handy combo.

I expect "Rich Uncle Pennybags" has a pearl lobster in his pocket. Look how happy he is!

1500 matching serial number sets. Complete with individual boxes and sheaths.
Came with a bonus tin sign. I decided to attach it to the display box.
