Schrade Uncle Henry LB7

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

The micarta looks nothing like what Schrade was using in the '80s on their Amex Presidents or I*XL knives. My best guess is handles are post-factory but the rivets used look the same as factory knives so who knows.
Better pics after a clean and polish. After more research I think it could be a factory custom. Schrade sometimes used this micarta in the 1990s.

More genuine scrimshaw. Frank Giorgianni did about 50 of these micarta knives for the Dedication of the (bigger) Ellenville factory in 1987. This example was given to Schrade salesman Gary Iwert at the 1986 Imperial Schrade National Sales meeting. He worked the mid-west US.

Are there 3 or 4 pins in the handle ?
First LB7's were made in 1977 and the serial numbers were on the shoulder of the right bolster. After 999,999 was reached then began A0000 up to A999999, and then began the "B" serial numbers. After "Z", came "AA" and so on up to "AZ" after which serial numbers were discontinued.
I think your knife is from mid 1980's ? Others may know more exactly.

There is for sale right now the very first Dixie Collection serial numbers 00000 on both knives all boxed and unused. Some store in Austrailia I think.
