Advertising Knives

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

I always like etched or engraved pearl handle knives, this one has different whiskeys advertised on each side and the same ones etched on the blades. Dang these Iphone pics make me nuts, gotta get a plain camera for this.

Gene, download a free copy of PhotoScape, learn how to use it and adjust your pictures.

Thanks Jerry. When I load photos into my computer from either camera or iphone they are always properly aligned. When I upload them to this site from my computer the ones from the camera stay properly aligned but the ones from the iphone get skewed. Sometimes the iphone photos are skewed but when enlarged get straight and sometimes they are loaded straight and get skewed on enlargement. This does not happen on another forum. Doesn't bother me that much and I don't like other services when I can load properly on other sites. I also know that it makes you and a few others nuts, some folks don't seem to care, they can see the details well enough.

I think that's the 1st green delrin LB-1 I've ever seen. Nice!

Most of my knives with text etc on them are anniversary commemoratives. I don't have any that are advertising knives with a phone number etc. The closest are likely my 3 Schrade "Compliments" knives.

This Schrade Cut Co pen knife pattern was often used for advertising knives.
And this Schrade Walden 865 lobster pattern was used for the Chrysler Master Technician Conference "Leader 4 Years" award. I have a bunch of these. All say "4" years.

Here is my most 'revealing' one, for "GE Progress Computer"; Correction, it is "Process Computer"
Why is this so amazing ? Because it is a Schrade Walden 876. The 'youngest' this could be is from 1971. I graduated from medical school in 1972. There were no computers anywhere, not even in universities. It was not until early 1990's that the computer invasion really got going.
This might be one of the earliest knives with computer advertising.

We're seeing a lot of great knives here so far. Here's a pair of 2204s - when you're handing these out to customers, you have arrived.

LOL - thanks, that one made me laugh!

BC - I never landed one of the Complements knives but if I'm remembering right I read somewhere that those were given to dealers who ordered enough knives or sold enough knives, something like that.

Cal I remembered that I have one of those TINGULOKs still in the plastic!

I don't tend to pick up too many advertising knives; however, picked this one up recently. Due to it being an advertising knife and blades with some early rusting, I was able to pick it up at a good discount. I thought I would replace the handles...but I'm liking the red bone and besides...resetting the Texas and star shields would be a pain in the asphalt. Cleaned up the blades and will put it in to the edc rotation..
