Schrade Walden 20T Old Timer

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Not only is that an excellent example of the 2OT, the seller is a well known Schrade collector/historian and a cutler who worked for Schrade for many years until it was closed down in 2004. I see it as an honor to own a knife that came from this seller's collection and the buyer can be 100% certain that the description given is perfectly accurate.

Well.... I went to have a look at it and it is GONE. I guess somebody else saw the value in this knife.
.
Just to settle my curiosity...... how much was it listed for and who was the seller?

There are even a few 2OT's 'out there' that come in the original wood box.

Roland, I think Eric has one of those also. I bet there are a lot buried deep in collections.

The first ones had the cedar boxes and then they went to paper for a bit. Here is a paper one.

This one is wooden; it was the same for both the 8OT and the 2OT.

And the earliest 2 OTs had milled liners. Some others did not. Schrade liked to do milled liners on 'first runs.' This is my unproven theory.

Not very many. Some say the bone 8OT is even rarer (130° rather than the chef special @ 140°).

Eric Great knife and box.

Tongueriver Nice old 8OT. I once owned that knife and box. I remember the circle stain on the box. Also has price penciled in, inside box. Small world.

Beautiful, Mike! Looks like you have it matched up with the bling from the 1984 25th anniversary 34OT. That's another great knife!

I wondered why that was but never looked at it from that angle - interesting. Two of mine are milled and the others are not. One of the milled ones is a Craftsman like Mike's. If his is milled too that bolsters the theory a bit.
