Schrade Walden 8OT

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Is it the bone handle 8OT from 1959-'60 ? I think these are correct dates but i have forgotten much of my Schrade information.

Beautiful 8OT! That box is even rarer than the knife.

These original bone 8OT's are as hard to find as the much desired 2OT.

Of all the 100s of millions of knives Schrade made after April of 1946, the knife you show, and other examples like it, are the most desirable, valuable and beautiful of all. They are rarer than the oft-pined-for 2OT. My opinion. And, yes, the original cedar box and paper are equally precious.

That is a fine example! Those ones are few and far between. Extra cool in it's original box. ::tu::

Thank you everyone, if I had to make a call on most of the knives in my collection I wouldn't let this one go.

That was my dad's favorite pattern. ::tu:: Here's one he lost for about a year and a replacement I had on hand. There's a third one floating around here somewhere.
