SCHRADE MADE?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Tough call. All the major cutleries made similar knives. Schrade is known to have made some for them. The peach seed bone knife in the lower middle is clearly Schrade bone.

I believe the first and second from the top, second row with the oval shields are Schrade, don't recall the pattern number offhand. As Cal said many of the others could be Schrade as well. The fifth down in the first row with the curved handle is definitely not Schrade.

You are right, that one is a iron bolster Winchester.

Hopefully I will learn something here; When folk talk about 'iron' bolsters, do they mean steel? I have been under the impression that iron has not been used in knives in any way for at least a hundred years, but probably much longer.

I didn’t count right. Sixth one down is the Winchester, fifth one is a ebony rooster nutter.
