Ode To The 07

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

The Monkey may speak the truth, but the seller of this 1975 6207 certainly didn't...or maybe he's color blind, because he claimed it was Red Bone but it sure looks like Brown Bone to me (maybe I'm the one who's color blind ::undecided:: ).

Either way, this knife fills in one more year of my 1970s decade 07 collection. Now I only need two more, 1976 & 1977, to complete the decade.

Huh mate, that is funny. Because from looking at your pictures here, it does look like red bone to me. A very very very dark redish-brown to my eyes, or they be fooling me too...

Very nice 07 mate. Guess the monkey quieted down, or at least until the next one pops up...

Posted about this one on the newest pick up thread as well....looks like it's not bone at all but delrin (going by the look and the shield) which to me is awesome...love it, my favorite so far in your collection Q

I haven't posted in this thread for a while so I hate to reenter with a negative reply, but, owning a few 1970s Delrin Cases, I have no doubt that what Q. was sold as "red bone" is Delrin. That doesn't make it a bad knife but it does make it significantly less than Q. paid for. If you bought it through eBay then the knife is eligible for being return for the specific reason "not as advertised." In those cases eBay forces the seller to pay for a return shipping label that eBay makes available for the buyer to print. However, it looks bad on the seller's account and it's possible the seller was unaware so it is polite to give the seller an opportunity to voluntarily make it right. Just don't let him drag it out too long because there is a time limit, 60 days IIRC.

On the other hand, Q's new India Sag Mini-T, especially its mark side, look great!

Truth is, I really don't care that my 1975 6207 is Delrin...yeah, I may have overpaid for it (nothing new about that), but the main reason I got it is because I needed it to fill an empty slot in my 1970s decade Mini Trapper collection...and it does that just fine, regardless of the handle material.

And, honestly, if not for the shield, I don't think I could even tell it was Delrin and not bone.

Case in point (no pun intended), this is my latest addition: a 1977 Brown Bone 6207:

Only discernable difference IMO is the shield (and slight color variation depending on the light).

Mahalo, MSJ...although I only need a 1976 6207 to complete the decade set, The Monkey has a serious Stag addiction which makes it impossible for me to pass up gnarly stag (on practically any brand or model, not just Mini-Ts) ::nod::

I had posted this elsewhere, but it was suggested this thread would be the appropriate place - box elder wood.

Indeed it is, tvic. Glad you decided to post it here for future generations of Mini-T aficionados to enjoy. :D

Also, it gives me a good excuse to show mine again :D I'm a convert to wood handled knives...didn't really care much for them until I started to see the warmth and natural beauty in various types of wood. The Box Elder Wood is definitely one of my favorites...lots of character in that wood, and much like stag, no two are exactly alike...each one is totally unique, one-of-a-kind. ::nod::

I did not realize it was even possible to "cool off" when it comes to Mini-Ts, jerryd. Evidently you're a much cooler customer than I (of course, I have that dad-gummed Monkey constantly breathing his hot Monkey breath down my neck which certainly doesn't help).

I tried and tried to ignore this one since I already have one just like it...buuuuuutt...nope, couldn't resist. Besides, this one has a serial number and my other one doesn't, so somehow that made it possible for me to justify buying it. The Monkey wins again  (see my signature below).

Yes he is, Floyd...very sharp, pointy little fangs in that little Monkey mouth of his... (Oh, and, yes, the serrations on the 207WHSS Wharncliffe blade are pretty "toothy," as well.) ::super_happy::

Here's another Stag Mini-T that I couldn't resist despite the fact that the very foundation of Mini-T Mountain is composed entirely of Stag. But, as OCD Mini-T Monkey constantly reminds me: You can never have too much Stag...so, it really wasn't too difficult of a decision.
