Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Picked up this mini copperlock, relatively cheap. It's a pretty nice, little knife.

Zp4ja, you said it, bad hafting, finishing, assembly maybe? Looks to me like someone went wild on a belt grinder or something and ground it out of square. Don't know how it could have been that far off in normal assemnbly and finishing. The pile side liner and spring termination is noticeably smaller like it was ground off or ground in on a serious angle to meet the other larger spring and liner. And the bolsters are off too. Pile side smaller, thinner, different tapir. And in this pic you can see the mark side bolster is significantly shorter too. Never seen that in any of the dozens of Case knives I've seen. I really wondered if it was a defective some Case employee took home and sold out the back door as they say later. No other Case I've had was this far off except one 2014 Sway Back Gent that I sent back it was so lame. Every other Case from the '65-69 era that I have here to compare it too are nothing like this. And the spine where it meets the spring when open is nowhere near square. I guess they wanted to stay with the same slanted theme throughout the knife. I was so fixated on the bare head I didn't notice how far off the bolsters are until today. Unbelievable.

gs, much of my interest in knives is driven by the aesthetics of a knife. And the rich color of your new Case is a turn on.

Nice Knives being posted, I enjoy seeing them. Here is a pickup from the Blade Show that I Really like, a Tested 1920-40 Winterbottom Congress 6488. I have only seen a few of these and this one is by far the best one I have encountered.

Thanks for looking ::tu:: ::tu::

Not sure if this belongs in the Case forum or the Boker forum. Either way it’s a sweet knife. Got it from Ray (Paladin).
