Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Need you guys to tell me if this is red bone or not. I just got it this week end at a local gunshow. It is a 6265 sab marked Case , although the model stamping is really light. Marked Case XX, so I am sure it is in the 1940-1964 range? No issues with the bone scales at all. Nice snap and not much blade loss if any. I paid the guy $100 for it , what do you think? did I get hosed or not? You won't hurt my feeling cause I like the knife. ::handshake:: Terry

Really nice knife, I wouldn’t call it red bone. I think $100 was a very good buy. Harold

Hi Terry,

I am by No means a Case expert. I'm just guessing here but it may be "Caramel Bone" or "Chestnut Bone".Niether seem to be a 💯% match but they both look similar. Maybe "Caramel-Chestnut Bone".
I can imagine the shades of colors have changed somewhat over the years. Maybe someone with a book or old catalog could be of more help. Anyways, I have one Case with "Chestnut Bone" you can eyeball  for comparison. Notice that one side is more redish brown while the other is more brownish black. Hope this helps or inspires a real expert to jump in here with a correct answer. ::tu:: ::handshake:: :D

Back when Terrys folding hunter was made Case didn't have a name for the color of bone.
