'76 6488 Large Congress in black jigged Delrin and a 2014 LT347 Caliber Lightweight Stockman.
The 6488 is just an old workhorse. Granddad bought it new way back in '76 and a few years ago, he gave it to me. I mostly babied it, but as of late, I've been using it as a go-to EDC knife. With all four blades sporting recurves due to sharpening methods used; and thin edges, it will cut anything that needs to be cut quickly. The springs are still super-snappy. I believe the strongest in my collection.
I wish Case had continued to offer and expand the Caliber line instead of just ditch it. I think I paid around $15 each for this one and a matching Muskrat. I stayed away from the Peanut, 18 Stockman, Trapper, and MIni Trapper, as at the time, only hunting camo or pink digital camo were offered. I wish I'd gotten the other patterns. I view these as a really nice attempt at revisiting the idea of what the shell handled Imperials--a solid, low-cost American-made user--not a shelf queen. And the solid Zytel slabs are SO much better than the chintzy feel of shell handles. They are solid and offer excellent grip.
Despite poor sales, everyone on the secondary market thinks these are worth a mint--$50-60 is regularly being asked for a line that was less than $30 new.
Also on my hip is a Zippo Cut About, which today is produced as the Case M1300L. Same basic knife, and I think the latter predates the Zippo model It is pretty fat for its size, which makes it quite comfortable.
Case/Zippo supplied really nice sheaths with these--while available as an add-on, only these Doral knives are the ones you'll find with them easily. I wish Case would still offer them. Yes, a sheath really isn't necessary for a knife this size, but it's a good way to keep from losing it while out working.
