Stagmania

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

I'm selling this lot, so this is their final curtain call in Stagmania (a great show with a truly amazing cast).

Thanks Phil! ::super_happy::

I love to show off (in case you haven't noticed) and because I collect primarily the canoe pattern most of my stag handles are on canoes.

Q, that's a fine herd of horns ya got there!! ::clapping:: The scales on those two lock-backs are particularly outstanding! ::tu:: The Case Bros. is a real looker too. Excellent showing!!

Speaking of Case Bros.....here's one shaped like a canoe (go figure, right?) ::rotflol::

Thanks Doglegg.

When I first started taking pictures of my knives for cataloging purposes I used a plain white or light blue background. That got old pretty quick plus I started posting photos on forums so I try to use props to make the photo interesting without distracting attention from the knife.

Thanks Quick Steel.

I've been told that Case only uses Sambar / India stag.

Very nice old knife Joe. I can't make out any maker's markings in your photos (if there are any). The stag looks like it might be European, reminds me of older Hubertus offerings. But that's just a guess. ::shrug::

Thank you, Charlie.
I was thinking European as well but I really don't know.
There is no stamp on that tang. As far as I know that is pretty unusual.
Thanks for the Hubertus connection. ::handshake::

You're welcome Joe. Back on page 6 I posted an old scout knife from the '60s I believe. It's tang stamp reads "Olivetto". It has stag similar to what is on your knife. Also, like your knife, I have been able to find out nothing about it even though it has a tang stamp. I did find an Italian cutlery company with the name Olivetto but a different logo.....they never answered any of my inquiries. ::shrug::
