Charlie, those 23's seem to have been made to be rehandled and that one is a good example. Very pretty knife. Glad it is yours.

I love the little 5107W CV Rancher. Got my first one from a dealer when it was released in 2011 and recently picked up another one dated 2013. These little guys are getting kinda hard to find now; must be popular (probably because a lot of people like CV steel).

It should look familiar too QS, since I had a senior moment and forgot that I had posted that knife just back up the page a bit.

Re: Stagmania
Thanks Tom!
This old knife has some cool stag on it. It was brought to America by an Israeli immigrant in the '50s. The cutler's name is Olivetto but I haven't been able to find any information on it.

Re: Stagmania
Well, Squach, a beauty like that can never be posted too many times...it's always a pleasure to look at again....and again!

That shadow stag Olivetto is pretty sweet as well.

I just happened to notice that this thread is in the "Case Knife Collector's Forum" but we seem to have veered off of strictly Case Stag--which is fine by me since a lot of Case stag is really not all that interesting due to their tendency to remove so much bark/character when hafting (except on the older models).
Although increasingly hard to find (especially on USA made factory knives), I prefer a stag handle that has gnarly bark that extends from bolster to bolster. This 1994 Hen & Rooster 212DS comes pretty close to meeting that criteria.

If you're talking about my post on the previous page QS, it's a Case Rio Grande Camp Knife and it's quite a handful.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 9:53 pm Your spear point Bowie looks very well done. The stag seals the deal.

Q, I prefer "big bark" as well, which is one of several reasons I favor Bull Dog knives.
