Ode To The 07
Re: Ode To The 07
Took a few years, but I finally managed to acquire the only color I was lacking in my 207WHSS 1st Issue collection. And, as luck would have it, I was able to get both the serrated AND the fine edge Wharncliffe versions of the yellow bone for a super deal.
Here's my updated 207WHSS 1st Issue collection. Now I only need three more to complete the set: serrated red & green bone and fine edge blue bone.

Re: Ode To The 07
And as long as I'm at it, and no one seems to be getting "sick up and fed" with the non-stop cavalcade of Case Mini Trappers...I think I'll just go ahead and post these two fine 07s I recently purchased from our very own Eye Brand Man. Mahalo, Michael.

Edit: So when your wife kicks you out of the house, while you're packing it comes down to a choice between clean underwear or your Mini-Trappers, which one wins?

Re: Ode To The 07
Not only is this one of the relatively few single clip blade 07s I've seen, it's also the first and only New Grind 107 I've ever seen (I have a New Grind 207, which is fairly common from the early 1980's Case Trapper Series). I believe this knife is a factory 2nd because it has a very light "X" on the tang stamp--possibly due to the ding on the grind line. Also, it has no pattern number tang stamp on the pile side.
The handle on this curious specimen looks like smooth oiled bone, which is different from the smooth white bone on my other Case knives.

Not and 07 but a mini trapper fished out of the bay. I think you will like the scales Q.
Re: Ode To The 07
Q - I really like that smooth bone single blade 107 - the new grind makes it even more special ! I'm going to pick up one of the Case "Ford" 107 singles like that one of these days ... great slim knivesQTCut5 wrote:Not only is this one of the relatively few single clip blade 07s I've seen, it's also the first and only New Grind 107 I've ever seen (I have a New Grind 207, which is fairly common from the early 1980's Case Trapper Series). Re: Ode To The 07
Indeed I do, Floyd. That looks like some fine ivory you got. I traded my Bulldog ivory mini trapper to Quick Steel for the two yellow bone 1st ISSUE 07s I needed for that sub-collection. I think we both were happy with the deal, but now I need to find me another ivory BD mini T to replace the one I swapped!doglegg wrote:Not and 07 but a mini trapper fished out of the bay. Thanks, John. I see that blue Ford 107 for sale quite often, although usually for a fixed BIN price. If you're patient, you'll probably be able to score one that comes up for auction for a good price one of these days. I'll be sure to keep an eye out.Lansky1 wrote:Q - I really like that smooth bone single blade 107 - the new grind makes it even more special ! Another red 07W added to the pile.

This one just arrived. Always enjoy adding another 07W to the pile...especially when it's one I don't already have.

Re: Ode To The 07
Two final drops of sweetness and my 'honey hole' is all played out; no more fish in the Bay.
Never thought I'd say this, but I think I've finally reached peak mini trapper: Mini T Critical Mass.
Was avoiding these "themed" 07s because I thought they were kind of cheesy; but, when I saw this one it reminded me of my dog, Lehua, who passed away in 2017, and I just couldn't resist. Turns out, it looks better in person than in photos...much nicer than I was expecting.
Box label shows the date of manufacture as 10/26/07, although the two "X" tang stamp indicates 2008. (OCD Monkey hates it when that happens )

Re: Ode To The 07
Oh my! The Brick Red Case Select is a real beaut. I must not be keeping a very close eye on The Bay 'cause I didn't see that one.
Yeah, except for the Army edition I bought for my Grandson and the USMC edition I bought for myself (slap the Eagle, Globe & Anchor on it and an old Marine will buy a dog t**d) I too stay away from the "themed" editions.
I did however see this Wharnie in Antique Sawcut Bone and it's on it's way.

Re: Ode To The 07
Glad you got that one, jerryd. I was watching it and almost put in a bid, but despite my proclivity for "hoarding" 07Ws, I decided that one of this style was enough (for now). But, if it had been a few $$ less at the end of the auction, I don't think I could have resisted (at least it's good that you kept it in the "family"). Super deal on a great 07W--Congrats.
