Tested 61050 barehead cokebottle....greenbone.

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Really nice one Roger. I’d say it has lived a sheltered life. ::tu::

What’s the rarity of that one versus the one with two bolsters?

Rugmar,I don't know. The Case experts would need to answer that question.

Ralph's unofficial, unscientific and highly questionable observations of the rarity of bone and stag handled Case Tested XX 050 cokebottle variations (not including the 0050 smaller cokebottle).

61050L Zipper switchblade. Extremely rare
C61050L Zipper switchblade. Very rare
C61050L lockback. Rare
C51050 stag. uncommon (could be easily convinced this is Rare)
61050 fairly common as compared to other patterns from the Case Tested XX era.
C61050 common as compared to other patterns from the Case Tested XX era.

Note that the leading "C" indicates 2 bolsters and the lack of a leading "C" indicates one bolster (barehead).

In response to your value question - here is a link to Case Tested XX C51050 SAB on eBay that you can follow. It has been listed for several months and has had a few price reductions.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-CASE-X ... Sw5FBc8GeE

With regard to your knife, the grind line where the blade and tang come together does not look original to me. Possible explanations could be:
1. Optical illusion in the photo
2. Blade is legitimate and someone "reground" it
3. A new blade has be welded onto the old tang.

It would be good if you could look at it under magnification to make a determination.

The knife at the least has been re-pinned.
