Case 4-Dot 6232

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case 4-Dot 6232

Post by XX Case XX »

I recently picked up this 4-Dot 6232 from Steve. I feel this particular Case is the best one I've ever bought. As far as quality goes, I think it's surpasses my finest GEC. The snap on both blades is tremendous. No wobble whatsoever. Half-stops lock-up with supreme authority. Fit and finish are excellent.

Whatever group of workers put this knife together back in 1976 knew exactly what they were doing.

Nice! That’s what I’d expect to find in a pre-1980s Case. Consistently high quality was a given.

During the 1970s I spent countless hours (days actually) going to hardware, sporting goods and other Case retailers, looking at Case knives. At that time you could find pre-dot U.S.A. and even an occasional XX knife still in dealer stock, especially at small town “mom and pop” independent retailers. That’s what I was looking for. They weren’t real good about rotating their inventory. Stag was especially difficult to find at the time but sometimes those folks had some. During those years I examined countless new Case knives. Some might have aesthetically better looking bone or stag but fit and finish, walk-and-talk were reliably excellent. I can’t recall ever seeing a bad knife. At that time the same was true of most other brands as well.

After our first son was born (1976) my searches slowed down. A lot.

Mike, I am really glad you got yourself a perfect knife. It is really exciting
when you get one of those because you know a lot of craftsmanship had
gone into making it.

Enjoy it.

That is a beautiful knife Mike, and a great pattern. The handle fits the hand so well, and the main blade is long enough to make a good slicer, while the secondary pen is just right for smaller tasks. Fine example you have there.
