From my grandfather's pocket and his dresser drawer

Read a post last night about a knife passed down by one's grandfather and thought it would be cool to share and see others that might want to share. These are ones my papa left behind. His favorite were the 6392 patterns. The lighter colored 6392 was the last he carried. I carry the darker 6392 now and then, the others are wore out and some broken. I love them all.

He was born in 1914 worked hard farming and building, survived off purple hull peas in the late 20s early 30s, quit drinking in the mid 40s, played alot of poker and commercial fished in later years, quit smoking pipes and cigars in the early 80s and became addicted to Hubba Bubba bubblegum, had 3 sons and 7 grandchildren. Never saw him in anything but overalls and a long sleeve shirt all my life. Pretty cool fella and am glad I knew him.

Great to see those family heirloom knives. They’re priceless treasures to have. There are hundreds of threads here about “grandpa’s knife”, and the knives of uncles and other family members. Always good to see family knives - it’s where most of us got started in our addiction.

Agreed, Old Folder. I would add he got his money’s worth, sharpened some of those blades right on down to “can’t”!

I forget to add, I bet he had a story or two to tell as well! And I have always believed that a big case knife and bib overalls are the surest marks of a refined gentleman. Tree Farmer will agree with me I'm sure!

Sounds like a great man and human being. I love the worn down scales on the knives, they just look so loved and used.

Thanks for sharing. Seeing such well used and true "pocketworn" knives warms my heart. I love that you keep and treasure your dad's knives ... we see so many knives like these that have been well worn and used up that family members don't appreciate and just dump on eBay. Those are treasures and I'm glad you kept them in the family.
