No shield

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

They used Delrin on the 32 pattern a lot in the 70s. Those shields were “melted” on. Maybe it fell out. ::shrug::

Picture would be helpful.

Handles look like epoxy. Seller says original condition. Poor pictures but they look really funny to me.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Handles look strange. Hard to tell for sure with the given lighting.
One reference I have shows Case did make some with a shield for that
year ( do NOT know if some made without shield),

Yes. But it’s hard to tell from the pictures, that might be a pen. IMHO that knife isn’t worth enough to warrant a counterfeiter tampering with it.
